A long time since posting + Banjos!

Hi there,

It's been a while since I posted, and an eventful year. Going from being in the middle of the city to South Deliverance, nowhere will do a lot for a change of attitude, and also a change of approach to being poor.

More recipes are in store, as well as more hints and tips on where to save money without living like crap.

Tonight is a typical night in with myself, Manbeast and new family member, Bacon, a young, Australian cattle dog. It's 40 degrees and past 2100, and my effort factor is fairly low. Just because I'm not in the mood to cook a gourmet meal however doesn't mean our tastebuds have to suffer; here, in all its glory is my recipe for GHETTO amatriciana!

Amatriciana A La Ghetto

2 tablespoons of Olive Oil
4 cloves garlic (We'll call it $1)
1 onion (red expensive ones are about $1.30)
500gm Shortcut Rindless Bacon ($2.54 from deli section of supermarket)
1 cup of Tomato Juice (HAVE THIS IN YOUR FRIDGE ALWAYS!!! )
400gm Can Crushed Roma Tomato (99c)
The most terrible white wine you can find (In fridge again, dont spend more than 7 dollars overall. It needs to be terrible)
2 Birds Eye Chillis ($1.00)
100gm of spaghetti per person. (500gm pack costs 99cish)

This makes enough sauce for around 4 people. It freezes awesomely and tastes brilliant the next day.
Costs are:
$7.84 (Providing you have the wine and all)

1. Start healing the water to boil.

2. Add oil to a large frying pan. Heat.

3. Dice onions and crush garlic, add to warm oil and stir until fragrant

4. Slice bacon (The meat, not my pet!) Add to garlic and onion, again heat until fragrant. Put pasta in water to start cooking.

5. Add can of tomatos, cup of tomato juice and about half a cup of your terrible, horrible white wine. Stir your pasta so it's not one terrible, horrible blob.

6. Bring tomato mix to the boil, then cover and allow to simmer for 15 minutes. Add your chilli and stir through. By this time it's about time to drain your pasta, chuck it into the sauce, stir through and serve.
